Tim Goodwin
BA (Hons) QTS
Hello, I'm Tim and I started teaching in 2004, working at Hayes Primary School in Paignton for 14 years. During this time, I held a number of leadership posts, including maths and science. Before leaving full-time teaching to become a Love2Learn tutor, I was ‘Leader of Learning’ at Hayes, which gave me the opportunity to mentor newly qualified and student teachers. My particular area of expertise is Upper Key Stage Two, as well as 11+ prep; however, I also have teaching experience in Key Stage One, so I’m no stranger to phonics, first writing steps, and early maths development. The heart of my philosophy is to build positive relationships with students and tailor my teaching to meet their needs.
Hannah Hallam

Welcome to Love2Learn Tutoring. My name is Hannah and I started Love2Learn Tutoring in 2017.
I had worked in Primary schools across Torbay, before I decided to start up Love2Learn Tutoring and use my teaching qualification in an extremely rewarding way. I am passionate about helping children acheive and make progress academically, as well as boosting their confidence if they find learning a challenge. Being able to work with children one to one or in small groups is extremely beneficial, giving each child the time and support to fully understand in their learning. I work across both KS1 and KS2 including 11+ tuition. In 2019 we launched our own 11+ mock exams, which are delivered in the exact same way that the real 11+ is, enabling children to practise exam technique. We welcome all children of all abilities to join us in our fun, supportive and carefully tailored tuition sessions. We always tutor to suit each individual, not just the group as a whole, in order to build confidence and maximise progress.

Charlotte Rowe
BA (Hons) QTS
Hello I am Karina and joined Love2learn Tutoring in September 2019, with the wealth of my experience being across years 1 to 4 . In my teaching career, I have taught within mainstream schools across Torbay and Devon, and so I fully understand the National Curriculum, Phonics Screening Test requirements, early learning strategies and speech and language intervention. Child development and wellbeing has always been a passion of mine and I have recently qualified as a counsellor. I was fortunate enough to work with the Educational Psychologists during my studies and visited lots of schools, helping children with additional needs. I am passionate about giving children the opportunity to reach their potential in a creative learning environment and to overcome any barriers they may have. I look forward to meeting lots of you very soon.

Laura Carr
BA (Hons) QTS
Laura will be teaching from her home in Newton Abbot, and also the YMCA Paignton starting from September 2020.
‘Hello! I’m Laura and I joined the Love2Learn Tutoring team in September 2020. I am a qualified primary school teacher with broad range of experience across the Key Stages, including 11+ tuition.
I have specialist knowledge of the EYFS and Key Stage 1 curriculum, in areas such as the phonics screening and end of year expectations for year 2. I currently teach in a primary school multi-academy trust in Torquay, alongside my husband Rob.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family at the beach and visiting the zoo. I’m really excited to be helping children achieve their academic potential and look forward to meeting lots of you very soon.’
Gen Dashwood-Simpson
BA (Hons) QTS
‘Hi my name is Gen and I will be starting in September 2020 with Love2Learn Tutoring. I am local to the area having lived in Torbay all of my life. I completed my teaching qualifications at Bath Spa University, where I obtained a BA(Hons) degree in Education Studies. Following this, I stayed at Bath Spa to complete my teaching certificate (PGCE).
Throughout my teaching career I have taught in mainstream schools across Torbay and have taught all primary year groups from reception up to year 6. My specialism is year 1 to year 4 in maths and English, but I also have knowledge in Phonics and first writing steps. I am really looking forward to working with smaller groups of children and making them feel more confident with their learning.’

Rob Carr
BA (Hons) QTS
Rob will be tutoring alongside his wife Laura from their home in Newton Abbot. Rob can also offer some home visits to those that live in the Torquay area.
‘Hello! I’m Rob and I currently teach in a primary school multi-academy trust in Torquay, alongside my wife Laura. I have taught across the Key Stages, from children entering the school in the Nursery to children sitting their SATs in Year 6. I am adept at supporting and challenging children to achieve their best; there is nothing more rewarding than watching children succeed after learning a new skill. I enjoy spending time with my family at the beach, going swimming and playing any sport I can. I like to make learning fun and purposeful, and I look forward to sharing some successes with you soon.’
Tracy Lawton
BA (Hons) QTS
Tracy will be working from her home address in Preston.
‘My name is Tracy and I am an experienced KS2 teacher and Literacy Co-ordinator. I am passionate and enthusiastic about working with children to improve their skills and closing gaps in their education. I also teach in Secondary school and am particularly empathetic with students with hidden disabilities, such as, autism or issues around emotional, mental health and well-being.
I have two children aged 12 and 10 and am up-to-date with the current National Curriculum. We have a labradoodle called Indie who we enjoy taking for walks and my children have two rabbits called Flopsy and Thumper.
I look forward to working with your child from September on our journey together with Learn2Learn Tutoring.’
